Crosman 622 Disassembly, Part 1

I picked up this Crosman 622 with a "WTB beaters" ad on the yellow forum (I need to run another one of those...) It had a jammed clip (easy to get it unstuck) but seemed to need a complete overhaul...I couldn't get the clip to index and "in for a penny" as they say.

The rifle with the butt stock removed.

The rear sight removed.

Setscrew holds the barrel to the receiver.

Loosening the barrel band.

Barrel slips out.

Two screws hold the forestock on.

Removed. Those two bushings ride on the tube.

They have a plastic insert.

Unscrewing the receiver LH screw...

Pretty stripped...not good. So project #1 will be helicoils in the receiver screw holes (holes...keep reading.)

This little plastic thing is used for unsticking the clip, used only on later models.

Where it goes.

And the back side...

The trigger group.

Safety removed.

Safety and stock nut.

That spring has a detent plunger at the other end.

Pretty caked with grease.

The other side of the receiver. That screw isn't stock...

Definitely not stock. And slightly too long, causing the valve assembly not to sit flat against the receiver and not allowing the two pieces to close...
The things you find in used airguns.

Wow! What a great description of how to take down a 622. You ought to write factory manuals. Any idea where I can get another 622 clip? Is anyone making them again?

I don't know where to get extra 622 clips, possibly Bryan and Associates or other used airgun dealers. Every now and then they come up on Ebay or Gunbroker.

Great, But how do you get thises Back together without Piecse Flying?

It takes a bit of practice and using a slave pin for the trigger spring. But I did it a bunch of times and it becomes much easier.

I just got an 622 my dad did not want. I took it had some problems that needed to be fixed. One was the gun was jammed which I found out was a problem this gun was known for. I unjammed the several pellets that had been in there for decades then I took the gun apart and can't find out were this one little cylinder piece goes. Its about a cm in diameter, its silver colored, and has a hole in the middle of it. I was wondering if anybody knows were it belongs? Thank you for your time.

I spent about three hours trying to figure out that same exact piece. After looking around I believe that it sits inside the trigger spring, inside the coil part

Do you have to take the whole gun apart to get the reciever to open? Im just trying to get the serial number. Reach me at fb. Probably will not respond to this. Or forget about it. Lol. George Slusher

I know this thread is old but are you interested in buying another for parts?
There may be some parts missing. I don't think I ever had the clip.

found my uncles old 622 with a scope, the clip is stuck and mangled from someone trying to get it out. Any advice on how to remove it?
