On I go
I had to pump up the contrast to show the stamping on the barrel.
V-350 SLIDE ACTION
I probably should mention that you cock the rifle by sliding the barrel into the action...but more about that if/when I get it working...
Removing the front sight.
The threads are minimal, as the rust gives way.
The trigger guard is removed with two screws.
Punching out the trigger pin.
The trigger/sear is pulled out.
Trigger/sear, pin and spring.
The ball…it's the "barrel lock" so it presumably locks the barrel.
I carefully levered it out.
There’s a spring underneath.
The ball and spring.
Removing the piston seal. It stretched and came off. I’m not sure how to replicate it. I suppose I could try and reuse it but it is a bit scarred.
The hammer and piston assembly. The manual shows it as two pieces but as far as I can tell it’s one piece.
The "pop" valve cleaned up.
I removed the seal. It seems to be nylon.
The felt and o-ring are both toast.
So now I have to clean everything and try to reassemble it. I don’t know if the seals can be re-used. If I have to fit a new piston seal I may try an o-ring or make a copy of the teflon seal from polyurethane. Or I may try teflon. I will still need to examine the piston thoroughly to see if it could possibly be two parts.
God bless you guys. Who else would bring these poor rifles back from the brink of extinction? I love the blogs, keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteNice, I am following this to see how it comes out I have the same model but not quite as rusty. It seems to work well but low powered , will not penetrate a cardboard box, have fed it some pellgun oil to see if it helps I like your blog very much. Kee up the good work.

Wow yours needs work . Mine will shoot through 3/8 to half inch of cardboard . And will bust the hell outta a qt. Mason jar

ReplyDeleteThe Crosman model #--V-350--
tells you specifically how fast your rifle should be pushing BBs out of the muzzle.
V=velocity
350=350fps
It distinguished the Crosman product from Daisy's @ 300fps products.
A V-350 or M-1 carbine (V-350 in military uniform) in good order will get very close to that, but I doubt that the current project will do so without a new seal.
Fun little tin can dingers that don't require dismounting to re-cock & reload nor have the monkey-motion pinch points of the Daisy M-25. Tom @ Buzzard Bluff
I have two of these, only they're the version manufactured for Sears & Roebuck and sold as Sears & Roebuck Model 126'02940.
ReplyDeletei also have one of the Sears Model 126'02940. that i was given that was missing the front barrel band [i made one in two parts on a lathe and silver brazed togeter]that was before i found this post [i thank you alot for posting this info] so i also will have to make a trigger and come up with the spring and pin for the same the ball and spring at the front of the stock is missing along with the rear sight but there again with the help of your post i now know what it all looks like and we will getter done.

I have a I-350 Crosman Slide Action B-B air rifle, but all I can find are V-350. It says Crosman Arms Co. Inc Fairport NY Made in USA on one side of barrel and on other it has the 1-350 Slide Action B-B Air Rifle Pat Pending. It has a solid wood stock, moveable rear sight, and is in pretty good shape.
ReplyDeleteMine looks like that also, I think the V just did not stamp properly
DeleteHi I have v-350 cross man and, it works fine but it doesn't hold the BB in place when you cock it if you lower the barrel the BB just rules out can someone tell me what's going on here.
ReplyDeleteYou need to replace the ball spring and the ball.
DeletePart #V350- 41 and 42
Where can I find parts for a v350
ReplyDeleteWhere can I find part for a v-350 ? I need the trigger gaurd and the front and rear sights.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this thread. I own the M1 version of this rifle and have the issue of low power as well. But I have a new parts/seal kit on the way which I'm hoping will fix this.
ReplyDeleteBut I have a question if I may? The round drum which has the black o-ring, felt oil retainer, and three holes. I'm assuming those three holes are what regulate the air pressure which expels the BB through the barrel.
If those three holes where bored to a slightly larger diameter, do you think it would result in a power increase?
Just to put it out there, I would NEVER try this at home. My question is for purposes of curiosity only.

Hi I have v-350 crossman and, it works fine but it doesn't hold the BB in place when you cock it if you lower the barrel the BB just rolls out can someone tell me what's going on here.
ReplyDeleteFound the problem. I need the ball spring # V350-42 and 41. I still have the ball I need the spring.
ReplyDeleteI made one out of a pen spring. It worked for a short time and then the BB started rolling out of the barrel again. Where do I locate parts?
J.g.airguns has the parts you need. But part 350-41 and 350-42 may be the wrong ones depending on whether you have the 1961 version or the later version that uses 359-17 spring and the 350-39 ball.
DeleteThe 39 ball is pretty common in a lot of crosman airguns. Just one is bigger than the other the 41 and 42 are the the later version and used in the 3500 as well. So know the round about year of your v350
I have one old sears roebuck varient lubed it up and cronied daisy bbs@ 366 fps high and 364 low ,,5 shot string all original internals. Just well kept. I have a v350 that I picked up yesterday is missing the bb detente ball and spring. The internals will not line up properly, so I hope that when I replace these 2 parts the assembly will line up properly in the tune. And take the 1/8 inch forward/ backward play out of the Assembly. Also this one cronied @ 290 fps. I am hoping the low fps is air escaping from the bb breech ball and spring.
ReplyDeleteIt came to me in rough shape and I may have to open it up and try to reseal the barrel cap. Some parts are on the way from j.g airguns
O. K there are 2 types of hammer pistons. One is shown here. And uses a white teflon piston seal ring, the other is a 2 piece the teflon is the top and side seal as shown in the 2 piece hammer piston and does come off ( it just pops on or off the top of the hammer piston assembly. As far as the barrel cap / pop valve assembly. My felt ring broke into 2 pieces but if oiled ,will still be useable, as it is not a seal. It is an oiling ring to keep the inner tube lubed. As far as the barrel cap o ring they are propietary and if you need one, it will be difficult to find. The barrel cap/ pop valve assembly does to things. 1 it compresses the air and pushes into the breech, both pushing the bb out with air and a push from the pop valve inner piston. The v350 I am working on now is a experimental project. When I first recieved this rifle it cronied @260 fps after some work and re assembly it cronied at 397 fps. So understanding the pop valve / hammer piston . I am going to drill a 4 the hole in the barrel cap/ pop valve assembly and see if the additional hole will provide additional power. I will get back to you when my parts from jg airguns arrive

Hey this was a huge help. Pulled it apart and found a bb lodged in the barrel. I was able to fix it, and put it together again. Thanks
