Snowy Ramble...

I still haven't found time to work on airguns, due to both work and our crazy weather here in the Northwest. I hope to get back to having fun as soon as the holiday rush is over!

Anyway, for more diversions. Popular Mechanics and Popular Science have put many back issues up on Google Books for free.
Typing in: Crosman Popular Mechanics yields this result.
Clicking on the first link and you get this. with those words you seek highlighted in yellow.
Then (I haven't found a way around this, but there may be something simpler) remove the highlighting by removing "&dq=crosman+popular+mechanics" from the URL which yields this.

There are old ads, articles and all sorts of wonderful stuff to waste your time. I particularly loved finding this...

You can also go to the advanced search page to make sure you only yield results within those magazines...there are all sorts of tricks I'll have to figure out. Anyway, you get the idea.

I also thought this picture was pretty cool (via one of the UK forums)

  1. Nick,

Outstanding find on the picture of a pellet in flight. I worked for 10 years in the missile design field for the army, so I can really appreciate the skill (and equipment!) necessary to capture that shot. Unbelievable.

I hope that you don't mind, but I posted a comment on Tom Gaylord's PyramydAir blog about it. See the latest post's comments (http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2008/12/outside-lock-rifle-by-gary-barnes.html)

  2. BTW, I've never commented before, but I've been reading your posts for the last year or so since taking up pellet rifles again last year at the ripe old age of 40. Can you say mid-life crisis ;-)

I must say that I seriously envy your tool collection and the skill that you have in using them. It makes me more aware of just how much I've bought into the idea that if you can't get it at the hardware store, then you just have to do without. It's nice to be reminded that such a limitation is artificial at best. Of course, there's something to be said for a well-equipped workshop, which I sadly don't have. Yet.

    :-)

  3. Thanks Bobby, I thought that was a neat picture as well...you can find all sorts of neat stuff perusing the worldwide airgun forums.
I'm in my 40's too and as you can tell I've become reinvigorated as well...
Time for you to start building a tool collection as well!
